Luc Nam river
Luc Nam river is one of three major rivers of Bac Giang province, is a major tributary of the Thai Binh river system. This is an average sized river, compared with more than a thousand rivers of our country. The river originates from the mountains of Dinh Lap district in Lang Son province, flowing over 20 km before arriving in Bac Giang land.
Luc Nam river flowing through the districts Son Dong, Luc Ngan, Luc Nam, Yen Dung. Luc Nam river basin is located in the northwest valley mountains North East - Yen Tu and southwest mountains Cai King - Bao Dai. Luc Nam river builds up large areas with lots of hills and fields in 3 districts of Bac Giang province.
From upstream to the town of Chu (Luc Ngan district) the river is narrow with many cliffs. From Chu to the town of Luc Nam, the river is nearly 100m wide river and 4 to 5 meters deep, big boat or small ships can go. From Luc Nam to Pha Lai, the river is wider and deeper rivers, ships travel easily. This part is about 20km long, two banks are fertile fields...so from the French colonial period, Luc Nam river was considered as the most beautiful river in north Vietnam.
