Lychee garden in Luc Ngan district
Famous as the land of Lychee, Luc Ngan boasts the best lychee in Vietnam. Harvest season of lychee is May to July, during this time the whole place of Luc Ngan is the red color of Lychee, all gardens are full of fruit, each family has several dozen of trees, some have up to thousands, everybody is focused for the harvest of lychee. There are about 20.000 hectares of lychee producing about 70.000 tons. Luc Ngan lychee is popular throughout the country so in season traders from other cities and provinces flock to Luc Ngan to buy, lychee from Luc Ngan is also exported to China and other countries, it is also processed into dried lychee, canned for export so that lychee lovers can enjoy all year round.
Lychee was grown in Luc Ngan in the 90s of the last century by the farmers from Hai Duong, with their hardworking the people of Luc Ngan turn this arid land into immense hills of lychee and thus brought prosperity to the farmers. The moderate temperatur of Luc Ngan coupled with the red soil mixed with gravel have made the lychee in Luc Ngan special favour. Luc Ngan lychee is characterized by red skin when ripe, thin crust, thick flesh and tastes strong sweet.
