Phon Xuong bastion
Phon Xuong bastion (or Don Phon Xuong) is in the complex of Phon Xuong military base in Yen The district, Bac Giang province, the bastion was built in 1895 in the revulution of Hoang Hoa Tham in French time.
As the capital of the revolt, Phon Xuong was where leader De Tham and other commanders stayed and made plan, strategy, tactics for the militants, it was considered as headquarters of the insurgents in the war.
Phon Xuong bastion has three ports, the main port looks eastward, the other two ports are connected with the dense forests. The two side ports with 1.50m wide are not intact, the main gate is 15m from northern wall, 2m wide with 4 steps. Inside the main entrance is a square checkpoint.
The architecture of Phon Xuong bastion is special, it not only met the requirement of being a stronghold but also solved the flexible combat and served as a commander headquarters.
