But Thap pagoda is located in Thuan Thanh district, Bac Ninh province, it has another name Ninh Phuc pagoda.
But Thap pagoda was built under Tran dynasty in 13th century and rebuilt in 17th century under Le dynasty. This is one of the most famous pagodas across Vietnam and has a very characteristic architecture, it was enlarged and renovated during the reign of King Le Than Tong. The mother of the king withdrew it at the death of his son.
But Thap in Vietnamese means "brush shaped tower in calligraphy." Indeed, at the time of its founding, it was customary for a pagodas comportassent turn. This architectural tradition disappeared over the following centuries.
