Phat Tich pagoda
Phat Tich pagoda is also known as Van Phuc pagoda, located in Tien Du district, Bac Ninh province, about 20km east of Hanoi.
According to old documents, Phat Tich pagoda was built in early 11th century under Ly dynasty. When King Ly Thanh Tong ordered to build a high tower, the tower collapsed exposing a Bhudda statue made of blue stone with gold plated outside. In recognition of the miraculous appearance of the statue, the pagoda was renamed as Phat Tich and moved to the mountain side.
Over time, Phat Tich pagoda was seriously destroyed, in 1686 the pagoda was restored in large scale and renamed as Van Phuc pagoda.
Phat Tich pagoda today has been renovated in pretty good condition. Dragon head in the Jade well were identified, other items have been built such as Great Buddha statue, library, guest hall...Many relics of Ly dynasty with historical and cultural values were found and preserved, exhibited, contributed to testify the intensity in all aspects of Ly dynasty.
