Bomb crater
The bomb crater on top of A1 hill was created by 1000 kg of explosive in the battle of Dien Bien Phu between colonial French troops and Vietnamese forces. The hole was made when the explosive blasted at 20h30 on 6th May 1954, the blast killed a company of French troops and the shockwave stunned the remaining, the explosion was also signal of the final offensive to Dien Bien Phu operation.
