Dien Bien Phu is the provincial capital of Dien Bien province in northwestern Vietnam that covers the entire Muong Thanh field and Dien Bien valley with a length of about 20 km and a width of 6 km from Nam Rom River.
Dien Bien Phu was called Muong Thanh in the language of Thai people, it means Land of God in association with the rise of Thai ethnic people. This is the largest plain between mountains in northwest Vietnam.
