Kien Khe church
So Kien cathedral, formerly known as Ke So cathedral is located in Kien Khe townlet, Thanh Liem district, Ha Nam province. It is one of four basilicas in Vietnam, is the center of So Kien pilgrims Hanoi diocese, that served as the cathedral of the archdiocese from 1882 to 1936.
Built on a 9 hectare campus, carrying Gothic cathedral features a high dome and massive bell tower. Besides the colored glass windows are gilded altar, decorated with woodcarvings make a unique blend of East and West.
So Kien cathedral's bell tower is 27m high with 4 big bells, the heaviest one weighs up to 2.461 tons. In the sanctuary there is a Bishop grave and relics of many other martyrs.
So Kien cathedral is 5km from Phu Ly town and 65km south of Hanoi in the direction of Highway 1.
