Son Tay old citadel
Son Tay ancient citadel is located in Son Tay township, 40km from Hanoi centre, this is an old military construction built in 1822 under King Minh Mang and is the only citadel built of laterite, a material particular of Son Tay area. Son Tay citadel has 4 gates facing 4 directions. Previously there were 4 brick bridges spanning the moat, but now there are only 2 gates left Front and Back. Around the citadel is an outer moat 3m deep, 20m wide, 1.795m long, is connected to Tich river in the southwest corner.
