Ha Tinh town is the capital of Ha Tinh Province, in the North Central of Vietnam. Ha Tinh town has an area of 56 km2 and a population over 118.000 people. Ha Tinh town is located on National Highway 1A, 350 km from Hanoi, 50 km north of Vinh City; 314 km south of Hue city and 5 km from the East Sea. Ha Tinh town is in the center of the Nghe Tinh - Lam Giang delta. Ha Tinh town consists of 16 subordinate administrative units of 10 communes.
In 2007 Ha Tinh was recognized as a provincial town.
