Hai Duong town
Hai Duong town is the capital city of Hai Duong province. Hai Duong town is the second class city and is the major economic hub of northern delta region. Hai Duong town was started in 1804 in French time with the name Thanh Dong, in the first days there were only troops. In 1923 the Governor of Indochina set up Hai Duong town with 2 administrative area on the side of Sat river and economic area from the train station to the wine factory. With it's favorable position Hai Duong was one of the most important towns in north Vietnam including Ha Noi, Hai Phong and Nam Dinh.
Hai Duong town was officially established on 6th August 1997 with 11 wards and 2 communes.
