Hai Phong port
Hai Phong port is the biggest port in north Vietnam. Hai Phong port was built by the Frenche in 1874 as the support area for the French troops, after that Hai Phong port was connected to Yunnan by railway. Until 1939, Hai Phong port handled 23% export and import volume of goods in Indochina.
After the reunification in 1975, Hai Phong port played an important role in the development of northern economy, the port was expanded and rebuilt. Until now Hai Phong is the second biggest sea port in Vietnam with total handle capacity of 20 million tonnes a year.
