Temple of Literature or Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam is a historical - cutural site of national importance. This is a place to preserve and honor the school values of culture of Vietnam.
The complex of Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam has an area of 54.331 square meters including Van lake, Giam garden and Noi Tu surrounded by brick walls.
In front of the large gate are 4 big pillars. The gate to Van Mieu is high and large, outside is a pair of stone dragons with a style of Nguyen Dynasty.
The temple of Literature is considered the first university of Vietnam, the temple is dated back to 10th century under Ly dynasty. The most valuable things in the Temple of Literature is 82 stone stelae of doctors, honouring the winners of the national examinations in the feudal dysnasties.
