Song Da reservoir
Song Da reservoir or Hoa Binh reservoir is an artificial lake located 70 km from Hanoi city. Song Da reservoir was built in late 1970s when Hoa Binh hydro power plant was built.
With a length of 70km, Song Da reservoir spreads over 17 communes of 5 districts Cao Phong, Tan Lac, Mai Chau, Da Bac and Hoa Binh town. The reservoir was formed after the Hoa Binh hydropower project, the widest part is 1-2km, depth from 80-110 m. The lake has a capacity of 9 billion m3, diverse natural resources, diverse, terrain dissected by many rivers, brook, stream...The lake has 47 large and small islands, of which 11 limestone island with an area of 116 hectares and 36 mountainous islands 157.5 hectares of land area. Charming scenery, the lake is surrounded by untouched forest, very attractive to tourists.
