Thac Bo temple
Thac Bo temple is located on the righ bank of Song Da reservoir in Cao Phong district. In the old days Thac Bo temple was built with wood and bamboo at the foot of Thac Bo, when the Hoa Binh reservoir was formed the temple was moved up to the hillside by the river. In dry season visitors need to walk 108 steps from the boat wharf to the temple, in rainy season the water rices close to the temple foundation and youcan go straight to the boat dock.
According the legend, Thac Bo temple is dedicated to a woman in Thac Bo who helped the King fight the rebellion in 15th century.
Thac Bo temple, though not as big as other places but still very majestic and sacred, it has a harmonious setting with mountain at the back and river in front. The festival of Thac Bo temple takes places on lunar 7th January.
