Dong Tao chicken (or Dong Cao, Tien Vua) is an original and precious breed of chicken in Vietnam, Dong Tao chicken are big in size, imposing figure with it's massive body, red skin, they have rough and big legs. Grown-up Dong Tao chicken are up to 5kg (rooster) and 4kg (hen).
Dong Tao commune belongs to Khoai Chau district, Hung Yen province, the commune has bred this type of chicken long ago, legend has it that Dong Tao chicken was an offer by people of Hung Yen to the kings.
