Black river or Song Da in Vietnamese is the biggest tributary of the Red river. Black river originates in Yunnan province of China is over 500 km in total lengh, starting point in Vietnam is Muong Te district, Lai Chau province, the river covers some northwestern provinces Dien Bien, Son La, Hoa Binh and Phu Tho.
