Muong Te district
Muong Te district is located north west of Lai Chau town, forests account for 90% of Muong Te area. As one of the most remote places in Lai Chau, Muong Te is far from tourism impact, little known about this mountainous district. To visit Muong Te travelers must have permit which can be obtained at Lai Chau border military command. The only way to reach Muong Te is via Muong Lay townlet, Muong Te still attracts tourists thanks to the unique culture of ethnic communities. Road to Muong Te is difficult with steep, winding passes through mountains, the roads have numerous muddy holes and travelers should not go in wet season to avoid landslide.
