Old Lai Chau town (later renamed as Muong Lay) is a tiny townlet perched on the hillside at the curve of Da river, the old town used to be a must stop for travelers going to northwest Vietnam with spectacular landscape and wild nature. The town is now deep under the river when Son La hydro power plant was built.
