Ruined cathedral on Hai Hau beach
Nam Dinh may be called the capital of the Northern Church. There are many beautiful churches, but the most attractive is a church that now has only ruins at Xuong Dien beach, Hai Ly commune, Hai Hau district. This church is about 40 km from Nam Dinh town, 150 km from Hanoi.
Previously, right on the beach is a population of many small churches. However, over time, sea water gradually encroaches on the land, affecting the buildings. The people in the area have three times moved the church to land to avoid the "invasion" of the sea. However, to this point, a large part of the architectural population has been living with water.
Severe weather also quickly destroyed the architecture of the church. The walls, the towers are now only broken. Local people have made little space in the church as a place to rest before and after each fishing trip.
Many years ago, it was still an ancient building, but now, with some walls left, with two little window domes, many people regret and feel the harshness of weather.
