Con Cuong district is in the west of Nghe An province, this is a mountainous border district with a 55km frontier with Laos. Con Cuong district is 130 km northwest of Vinh city, 120 km south of Nam Can border gate (Ky Son district), 27 km of national highway 7 runs through. Con Cuong district has a total area of 1744 km2 and a population aprox 70.000 people including Kinh, Tay, Thai and Dan Lai groups.
