Tam Diep pass
Tam Diep pass is located in Tam Diep town, 18km from south of Ninh Binh town. Tam Diep pass consists of three limestone mountains running from Hoa Binh province and then deep into the sea in the direction of North East - Southwest and lower gradually. The lower mountainous area is called Tam Diep pass, it is the boundary between Ninh Binh and Thanh Hoa provinces, but also the boundary between the North and Central. From the north to this place there are three consecutive passes, so called Tam Diep. The first pass is about 68m high, second pass in the middle, 110m high, the third third pass at the same height 80m (compared to sea level).
Tam Diep pass is a shield between the North and the Central, a very strategic defensive line, an important military position, such as the wall of nature on the way north to the South. In December of the Mau Than year (1788), King Quang Trung, on his way to the North speeding his second expedition of the Qing invaders, sent troops in Tam Diep pass and held a military party, before entering Thang Long citadel
Tam Diep is not only beautiful natural scenery but also a famous historical monument that has entered the poetry of the poets and writers of the past.
