Nui Coc lake
Nui Coc lake is located in Dai Tu district, Thai Nguyen province. Nui Coc lake is about 15km southwest of Thai Nguyen town, the lake is famous for beautiful landscape of mountain and water with the legend of love story about Mr Cong and Ms Coc.
Nui Coc Lake is an artificial lake, it was built halfway up the mountain on Cong river. The lake was started in 1972 and put into operation in 1978 with the initial purpose to provide water for irrigation and water systems for people living in Thai Nguyen town and the neighboring provinces. Nui Coc lake includes a 480m long main dam and 6 auxiliary dams. The area of surface is approximately 2,500 ha. On the lake, there are nearly 100 islands, there are islands of green forest, which is home to flamingos, goats and the temple of Ba Chua Thuong Ngan.
