Phu Luong district is a mountainous district north of Thai Nguyen province, Phu Luong district is 22 km from centre of Thai Nguyen town.
The name Phu Luong appeared in Ly dynasty, Phu Luong was then a big county covering 3 provinces Thai Nguyen, Bac Kan and Cao Bang today. Under French time, from October 1890 to September 1892 Phu Luong belonged to belonged to Thai Nguyen miliraty zone. After 1975 Phu Luong was set up as a district in Thai Nguyen province with 1 townlet Cho Moi and 23 communes.
