Thai Nguyen is the famous tea region in Vietnam, the brand name Tan Cuong tea is considered the best tea, there are hundreds of tea plantation in Thai Nguyen with ancient tea plants hundreds of years old.
At the end of 19th century tea was planted in Thai Nguyen by local farmers in the highland areas, at that time most tea harvested in Thai Nguyen was for local use, when the French came in 1882 a big plantation with a factory was built and Thai Nguyen tea was exported to Europe and north Africa.
