Ham Rong bridge
On National Highway 1, before entering Thanh Hoa city, you will cross a series of bridges, most notably the Ham Rong Bridge.
The old Ham Rong bridge built by France in 1904 is a steel arch bridge without a centerpiece. The bridge was destroyed in 1946 in the war. In 1962 Ham Rong Bridge was started construction and inaugurated in 1964, the bridge consists of two steel girders, in the middle of a railroad track, on both sides of the road and pedestrian way. Since December 2000, after the inauguration of Hoang Long Bridge, Ham Rong Bridge is only for railways. Ham Rong bridge plays an important role as it is the only railway bridge to cross the Ma River.
