Holy fish stream in Cam Thuy district
Cam Luong fish stream is also known locally as Ngoc stream, located at the foot of Truong Sinh mountain, Cam Luong commune, Cam Thuy district, Thanh Hoa province. The stream stretches for about 2 km, flowing from a rock cave at the foot of the mountain, into the valley lying on the south bank of the Ma River. Currently, there is suspension bridge over the Ma River and visitors can easily pass.
The stream part where the fish appears is more than hundred meters from the cave, 3m in width. The water level here is only about 40cm high, clear water and one can see the pebbles and moss.
There are thousands of fish, each can weigh from 2kg to 8kg, especially the old fish can weigh up to 30kg occasionally appear when the water is high. Despite the density of fish but the water is not smely and people can use to cook.
The mystery of Cam Luong fish stream remains such as why the fish don't go far and live only in the cave and only in this part of the stream, how old are the fish or what the main source of food for the fish is...In 1958 a group of explorer entered the cave to study, they found the water in warm water, but could not go farther but guessed deep inside with abundant food.
Local people believe that Cam Luong stream is sacred so people only come to admire and pray, no one catches the fish, the wealth of fish will bring a prosperous life, so they shared life together. Protect and worship the fish, wishing good weather and harvest.
