Tay Thien pagoda
Tay Thien pagoda is located about 85 km west of Hanoi, in Dai Dinh Commune, Tam Dao District, Vinh Phuc Province. This is the destination of many visitors in spring. Tay Thien Pagoda is attractive not only as the sacred place of the Buddhism but also the landscapes of hydropathy. Scenic mountains and forests with ancient temples, little shrines hidden on the height of mountain and thousands of streams...Legend has it that long time a go, an Indian monk, on a trip to the East, saw the mysterious and deserted forest and chose this place to set up a tent for the sake of spreading Buddhism. The name Tay Thien means "where the monks of Tay Thien (India) practice", is to remember the first congregation came from India into Vietnam missionary. In the 3rd century BC, the eighth mission of Asoka came to spread Buddhism.
Tay Thien is also home to the largest Truc Lam Zen Monastery in the Vietnam, along with the natural landscape. According to many research documents, Tay Thien is also the root of Vietnam Buddhism.
